MU-UFMC System Performance Analysis and Optimal Filter Length and Zero Padding Length Design

چکیده
Universal filtered multi-carrier (UFMC) systems offer a flexibility of filtering arbitrary number of subcarriers to suppress out of band (OoB) emission, while keeping the orthogonality between subbands and subcarriers within one subband. However, subband filtering may affect system performance and capacity in a number of ways. In this paper, we first propose the conditions for interference-free one-tap equalization and corresponding signal model in the frequency domain for multi-user (MU) UFMC system. Based on this ideal case, impact of subband filtering on the system performance is analyzed in terms of average signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) per subband, capacity per subcarrier and bit error rate (BER) and compared with the orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) system. This is followed by filter length selection strategies to provide guidelines for system design. Next, by taking carrier frequency offset (CFO), timing offset (TO), insufficient guard interval between symbols and filter tail cutting (TC) into consideration, an analytical system model is established. New channel equalization algorithms are proposed by considering the errors and imperfections based on the derived signal models. In addition, a set of optimization criteria in terms of filter length and guard interval/filter TC length subject to various constraints is formulated to maximize the system capacity. Numerical results show that the analytical and corresponding optimal approaches match the simulation results, and the proposed equalization algorithms can significantly improve the BER performance.

متن کاملAn Iterative Method for Signal Extension in Subband Coding
One key problem in subband and wavelet coding systems, is the decomposition of limited size signals. The Wavelet transform is defined for infinitelength signals. In practice we only have finite-length signals, so signals must be extended before they can be transformed. The question is how to extend the signal to minimize signal end effects, or how to find the signal extension that preserves the...
متن کاملDesign Criteria for Simple Sinusoidal Parameter Estimation based on Quadratic Interpolation of FFT Magnitude Peaks
Due to its simplicity and accuracy, quadratic peak interpolation in a zero-padded Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) has been widely used for sinusoidal parameter estimation in audio applications. While general criteria can guide the choice of window type, FFT length, and zero-padding factor, it is sometimes desirable in practice to know more precisely the requirements for achieving a prescribed erro...

متن کاملParallel Discrete Fourier Transform for Fast FIR Filtering Based on Overlapped-save Block Structure
To successfully provide a fast FIR filter with FTT algorithms, overlapped-save algorithms can be used to lower the computational complexity and achieve the desired real-time processing. As the length of the input block increases in order to improve the efficiency, a larger volume of zero padding will greatly increase the computation length of the FFT. In this paper, we use the overlapped block ...
